The New Zealand Qualifications Authority (NZQA) is a government organisation that carries out quality assurance audits on education providers in New Zealand. NZQA conducted an EER (External Evaluation Review) at NZLC in September 2017. NZLC was rated ‘Highly Confident in educational performance’ and ‘Highly Confident in capability in self-assessment’. On this basis, NZLC is deemed a Category 1 school by NZQA.
NZLC has agreed to observe and be bound by the Code of Practice for the Pastoral Care of International Students. Copies of the code are available on request from our schools or from the NZQA website.
English New Zealand was established in 1986 by pioneering language school operators and represents a group of well-established, quality English language schools located throughout New Zealand.
Over 80% of students enrolled in private tertiary English language providers choose English New Zealand schools and member schools are inspected and need to meet the standards over and above those required by NZQA.
The English New Zealand Standards cover academic and management criteria, and members must employ teachers with specialist TESOL qualifications and experience.
NZLC has been approved by Cambridge University to conduct TESOL and TECSOL Teaching Knowledge Tests (TKT) onsite.
NZLC Auckland is an approved CELTA training centre authorised by Cambridge English Language Assessment to deliver their CELTA qualification. As a CELTA centre, NZLC has the highly-qualified, experienced staff and the well-resourced facilities required by Cambridge. Our trainers are standardised by Cambridge and each course is inspected by one of their assessors, who ensures that their high standards are maintained at all times.
NZLC is an approved IELTS pretesting centre and runs IELTS pretests four times a year. This gives our students the opportunity to practise taking an IELTS listening, reading and writing test using real questions under exam conditions. Students are given scores for their tests and their writing is marked by real IELTS examiner.

NZLC is in the ST Super Star Hall of Fame for winning the ST Star Award for five consecutive years (2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018 and been shortlisted in 2013).
Also, the New Zealand Qualification Authority (NZQA) rates NZLC as a top rating Category 1 school.
