Power Speaking

Level: All levels Have you always wanted to improve your speaking skills? Then Power Speaking is the elective for you! Practice your speaking in ways that you’ve never had the chance to during class. A wide range of subskills (e.g. turn taking, interrupting politely, etc.) and text types (e.g. telling jokes, recounting events, etc.) will be covered throughout the course. |

Level: All levels, including IELTS At Study Support, you’ll learn how to be a more effective English language learner. Make faster progress by improving your study skills! This elective will teach you useful techniques to improve your vocabulary, to listen better, to read faster and more effectively, and get more from your classes. Learn how to study what you want, when you want by yourself. |
Pronunciation

Level: All levels The pronunciation elective will help you build your skills, from getting sounds and words right, and sounding more fluent, to changing the meaning of sentences and conversations. It will also help you better understand spoken English. |
News Club

Level: All levels Do you have trouble following the news in English? News Club will help you understand news articles and TV programmes, and give you the confidence to discuss and write about current events. It will give you ideas on how to use news websites in your own time for independent study. |
TOEIC

Level: Pre-Intermediate to Advanced This elective covers the TOEIC listening and reading tests. You will practice one part of the test each week, followed by an in depth analysis of that part, learning about and practicing the necessary subskills and language to help you pass the test successfully. These skills are also transferrable and can be applied to real life and other tests. |

Job Workshop
Level: All levels
In this workshop we cover:
- How to find a job
- How to set up a job interview
- What to prepare
- How to present yourself
- How to make a good impression at the interview
- What kind of questions will be asked
- How to write a CV for the New Zealand market
- CV Dos and Don’ts
CV Check
Level: All levels
Bring your CV and a teacher will check it for you and give you advice about how to improve it (10 min per student). If you want to know how to write a CV, you can attend the “Job Workshop” or enrol in our “Online Job Preparation Workshop”.
IRD/Bank/Kiwi Access Workshop
Level: All levels
We can show you how to apply IRD, Kiwi access card and bank to open accounts. If you want to work in NZ, you need IRD number and bank accounts.
